After the increased popularity of IGNOU, many state education ministries also started their open universities to promote distance education among students.  One such example was Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University established in 1999 in Allahabad ( now known as Prayagraj ).

UPRTOU offers many courses including degree courses, post graduate courses, diploma courses, certificate courses, computer courses, professional courses, awareness courses, research courses, etc.

A functioning placement cell at UPRTOU assists students with job placement. The average pay for students during the most recent placement drive was above INR 3LPA. An MBA student obtained the largest compensation package available, which was INR 15 LPA while the lowest package was approx INR 2LPA.

Important Instructions

• Admissions in the first year continues for almost the whole year, however applicants get admission in two sessions. Students applying between 1st May to 30th September get admission in the July session while students applying between 1st November to 28 February get admission in the January session.
• According to the instructions given by UGC, it is compulsory for all students to provide their Aadhar Number.
• Applicants are advised to check all details carefully in online application as  in case any student is found to provide false information in their online application form, their application will be rejected immediately.
• No fees will be refunded in any case after the submission of application.
• Dependents of Martyrs of the Indian defence forces or Paramilitary forces are offered free of cost admission at UPRTOU.
• Transegenders and prisoners are also provided admission in UPRTOU without any fees.
• Females from the villages adopted by the university get 50% concession in admission fees.
• Students who lost any of their parents or guardians will also get free education till the completion of course.
• Students don’t need to wait for the result of the first year to get admission in the second or third year of their respective courses.

FEES in UPRTOU

There are two types of courses available as semester based  such as BSc, BBA, BCA ,MBA etc and yearly based courses such as diploma, PG diploma and certificate courses.

The main aim of this public university is to increase literacy and awareness among citizens and hence fees charged for the courses here are very low.

UPRTOU is also famous for its world class library with more than 40k books and Women Study Centres established by  its first female vice chancellor to promote education in females.

Many Tech and MNC companies visit UPRTOU including Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, Amazon, Vivo Mobile etc where above 60% of the students of MBA and MCA get placed.

Is the application process online or offline in UPRTOU ?

UPRTOU offers applications for admission in online mode only . Students also need to submit a self declaration for anti ragging during their online application.

Do I need to submit assignments also ?

All students need to submit assignments of their respective courses which they can download from the official website. They can also check the status of their assignments on the official website of UPRTOU.
