North Eastern Railway Zone
North Eastern Railway Zone |
|
Description |
One of the most crucial transit areas is the North Eastern Railway, which is used to receive loaded wagons, especially those carrying food grains, from Northern Railway divisions like Firozpur and transport them to the Eastern Belt and the Northern Frontier region (Seven Sister States). As a result, it plays a crucial role in the nation's food security. In addition to being a significant transit zone, it also serves as the focal point for a significant amount of inbound traffic from the surrounding zones. Food grains, fertilizer, stone chips, cement, oil, coal, and other items are among the inbound traffic.
