In recent years, there has been a huge increase in demand for correspondence courses as many wish to continue their studies with their jobs. It is also best for those students who prefer self study or online study over learning in offline classes.

NOU also offers Intermediate in science, commerce and arts with a fees of INR 2400 per year. Apart from these NOU offers 23 types of certificate courses for a duration of 9 months. A nominal fee of INR 2200 is charged for most of these certificate courses except for interior decoration and computer networking( routing and switching ) where INR 6800 and INR 15200 fees are charged respectively.

Some other attractive courses include a certificate course in soil health management, Hindi-English translation, library and informatics, child psychology and guidance, information technology, disaster management, health and nutrition, etc. All courses are approved by UGC.

• Complete admission process could be completed online and there is no need  for physical reporting nor does anyone have to submit any document in hardcopy.
• This university offers free education to prisoners.
• Female students get 25% of concession in fees for all courses.
• There 220 study centers of NOU across BIhar and Jharkhand in various local colleges.
• Students also need to submit assignments apart  from passing written examinations.
• Three sets of previous year questions for each subject are available at the official website and NOU app.
• There are no limitations of seats in this university for most of the courses and hence there is no selection criteria such as entrance exams or cut off marks etc.
• NOU also provides books to their students of its own publication.

The Vice Chancellor of Nalanda Open University is Prof K.C. Sinha who is a very renowned teacher of mathematics in Bihar. His books are very popular among mathematics students.

Admission Process

There are two ways to get admission in this open open university as

1. Online Mode - This is a comparatively easier method in which an applicant first needs to visit the official website and select admission options from students corner or floating notification . Thereafter click on the new admission option and complete registration by filling basic information and OTP. In the next step applicant will need to upload all documents such as

• Passport size photo
• Aadhar card
• Migration certificate
• Character certificate
• Passing certificate
• Previous year marksheet.

Finally complete the payment process and print the registration slip . You will get a Verification mail on your mail id however it may also be rejected in case of any false documents . You can get books with this registration slip from authorized centers .

1. Offline Mode  - Students need to visit any center of NOU and get a prospectus from there after paying INR 500 in demand draft . After that fill the application  form in the prospectus and submit it at the same center with all documents needed. They also need to pay the course fees at the time of submitting by demand draft .
