Our government has been trying to eradicate caste inequalities since post independence. After so many years, we can observe lots of  changes in our society. However, there are some people who still believe in the caste system especially during weddings and elections.

When it comes to Bihar, there is a lot of news of riots between different castes in the past. Hence to decrease these dissimilarities between the sections of society, Dr Ambedkar Scheme for Social Integration through Inter-Caste Marriages is also launched in Bihar.

Important Points

  • This scheme was launched to promote the brave decision to break the stereotypes of our society and to provide financial aid to settle as they may not be accepted by society.
  • This scheme was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
  • The total amount to be provided through this scheme is INR 2.5 Lakhs.
  • An amount of Rs. 1.50 lakh will be released to the eligible couple through RTGS or NEFT to the joint account of the couple upon receipt of a pre-stamped receipt on a ten rupee non-judicial stamp paper.
  • The remaining amount will be held in a fixed deposit in the foundation for a period of three years. This amount, along with the interest earned, will be released to the couple three years after the foundation approves the incentive.

Eligibility for Antarjatiya Vivah Protshahan Yojna 2023

  • Any one from the couple must belong to scheduled castes and the other one must belong to non-scheduled castes to be eligible for this scheme.
  • The marriage must be valid under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. In case the marriage is not registered, they need to submit a separate certificate as per the proper format.
  • The male in the couple must be at least 21 years old and the female must be at least 18 years old.
  • It must be the first marriage for both females and males.
  • The marriage must not be older than 1 year at time of applying.
  • They must be recommended by a MP/MLA/DM/Deputy Collector etc.
